Amb. Camacho
Episode 25 saw me speak with Ambassador Juan Jose Gomez Camacho who originates from Mexico.
He has a diplomatic career spanning 30 years across the globe and is now a senior fellow with my former college, Johns Hopkins SAIS’s Foreign Policy Institute (FPI).
A big thanks to SAIS particularly in this case, as after some initial events, l proposed establishing a formal partnership know as the Social Audio Project, with the intent of hosting fellows regularly to share their work and highlight the quality of SAIS.
This was the first milestone l reached with creating TGG.
And frankly it was a proud moment for me. Seeing the college l worked to gain entry to, be accepted to and graduate from, only a couple of years later, actively and enthusiastically, entering into a collaboration.
Now, Amb. Camacho has served as to… get ready for this:
Canada
UN in NYC (2016-19)
EU, Luxembourg, Belgium (2013-16)
International Organizations in Geneva (2009-13)
Singapore, Myanmar, Brunei (2006-09)
And all this gives him extensive knowledge of North American, EU, and Latin American or South-east Asia.
He directly helped ensure the adoption of the first Global Deal on International Migration, and negotiating the framework of the New Trade Agreement between Mexico and EU, for instance.
And so, there is no one better placed to tackle the details of the North American Summit (NALS), which is a trilateral meeting between the 3 countries every year.
As to what its about? What happened? Why’s it matter? Or the growing popularity of the concept of ‘nearshoring’?
Well, you’ll just have to tune in to the latest episode to find out.
