An AI Arms Race? How Artificial Intelligence May Evolve & Effect the Ukraine War
In the latest episode, l spoke with former Chairman of the US National Intelligence Council, Gregory Treverton about the future of artificial intelligence.
Do you worry about the future of AI?
Aside from its impact on jobs for instance, how might it affect warfare?
Could it have an increasing role in the Ukraine War?
These questions and many more l put to Greg Treverton, a pivotal figure in the realm of intelligence analysis, but more recently AI, and its growing relevance.
It was quite a different subject to cover, but highly requested, and a refreshing change focusing on the relationship of tech to geopolitics.
Encourage you to check it out!
In the beginning, Greg outlines his primary concerns about the role of AI, and evolving nature of AI more broadly.
I then challenged him on its relevance to Ukraine, be it on the side of the Ukrainians or on that of the Kremlin.
Greg was quick to note the uncertainty AI could pose for either side, and necessarily only a positive.
We then moved on to how, if at all, we can leverage AI to better counteract the relentless mis/disinformation and troll farms.
Greg’s response actually quite surprised me.
From there, we also went onto covering:
how ‘'big tech’ should be engaged and held responsible,
what implications it has for domestic tensions and polarization,
is it possible to form a truly, international, multilateral consensus to address and manage AI.
Sound intriguing? Give it a watch, and consider it to others who’ll find it entertaining!
